Doc Apmt Today Follo-up on Boil. So Scared. Please help? June 12, 2010

Went to doc today for follow up…. she said the infection in the boil is not any better but not any worse… she said I have a 50/50 chance of it healing or ending up in the emergency room. I’m so scared…. i’m on antibiotics and eating healthy… i’m so scared. I’m on the antibiotics… she is worried about a staff infection but if i’m on the antbiotics and it isn’t worse… isn’t that a good sign?
I’ve had it for almost 2 wks… I’m on Sulfa something. The boil itself feels feverish. I’m pretty upset about this. I don’t want to end up in the hospital. I’m scared to death.
It does not have a cut in it… it is not seaping… she does not want to lance it yet unless she has to because it’s just infected muscle tissue and she won’t get anything out.

I had a boil and had surgery on it too. You must clean it out the area where the boil is at least twice a day… Is it filled with gauze? take the gauze out clean it out with the solution you were given and re-gauze it with clean gauze, it will heal from the inside out and days go by it heals and the cut gets smaller until it actually heals, leaving just a scar. But you must clean it out if not twice or more if needed.

Where is the boil at? And how long have you had it.

When I worked for pediatrics I had one come up on the inside of my leg. It is a type of staph. When it come to a total head one of the docs lanced it, under sterile conditions of course. Made it feel much better. We applied cream on it. Not sure how long, but it come back and we had to do it all over again. We lanced it for the 2nd time, I was put on strong antibotics and took a bicillin shot for 3 days. It did finally go away. Thank you Jesus. That thing hurt so bad.

Be sure to keep it very clean and covered. Wishing you the best. If you go in the hospital they will put you on an IV so the Antibotics can get in your system quicker.

Hope you feel better soon.
