Does anyone know if it is possible to record a voice, load it into your computer and then send it via email? July 21, 2010

I have an online church service for shut-ins. I email the services each Sunday. I have recently had a couple of blind people ask if there is anyway I could send them my voice reading the service instead of them waiting to have someone read it to them. I would rather send the services direct instead of sending a link that they would have to go to and I would have to pay more than I can afford for. I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you.

what a great question… Of Course!

But, you need to record it to your disk, using any variety of programs. Then you have to compress it down so it is small enough to be easily e-mailed.

You could also use an instant messenger service to stream it live! (very easy)

It’s definitely technologically possible, but i don’t know how well enough to explain it to you.

yes, it is. you record your voice with the help of the microphone (like the one that comes with the ear phones) and save it in an audio file. then you have to zip it (compress, make smaller) and send it. you should make sure first that the people you are sending it to have the right program to unzip (decompress) it

It kind of depends on just how long-winded a preacher that you are. You could use the free software, Audacity to record
or even Windows built-in Sound Recorder (if the service is short), then save it in a common format and mail it as an attachment in an e mail.

Now here is the problem; audio files are large and most free e mail providers have a limit on the size file that you can attach.

So you will need to do 2 things:

1. Record a service and find out the approx. file size.
2. See if your e mail provider can handle that large a file.

Good luck and oh yeah…a Good job, too!

Absolutely. You’re first step is to get yourself a good headset for the computer with a microphone. Plantronics is a good brand and they are usually fairly cheap. You can visit that headset is perfectly fine for your needs. (the above uses the standard 3.5 connector for the microphone and speakers. If your computer has it’s plugs in a hard to get to place, you can use a USB connecting headset for a few dollars more:)

Next you can download a freeware program called AUDACITY (it has a lot of good features that you’ll need.)

Next, you’ll need the LAME encoder for Audacity. (It allows you to export the sound file to the MP3 format.

Now just spend a few hours playing around with it and getting familiar with everything, and record away. (I recommend Audacity over windows standard Sound Recorder because it allows you to edit your sound files so you can get rid of mistakes. It’s like a mini-studio and you can add in music, splice in other sounds. etc.)

You can also make podcasts and submit them to Itunes for download if you want to reach a wider audience this way (but you’d need to learn an extra step or two. Try looking up podcast tutorials in yahoo. :)

Also, a Text To Speach Reader like TextAloud will work as well, it’s not free however. :

It is possible Yes, Using facilities available in your computer. All that it takes is a sound card in your computer. And you need to connect a mic to it. The sound card has separate slots for a speaker and a mic. After that you need to open the sound recorder program in your computer. It is located in start > all programs > accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder.

It is a small, simple and easy recording program.

You can record your sound directly on the computer using it. After that when you are saving it on the hard disk. Select File > save As >
Click on Change button in front of Format. You will see a list of formats. Select MPEG Layer 3 from the list.
Then give a name to the file. The name of the file should end with mp3. For example “myservice.mp3″. The name should be enclosed in double quotes.
This exercise will save your sound file as mp3, in a compressed form , suitable to be sent via email.

You can send the sound file by any available method after.
