Is it customary to send a follow up letter to a potential employer a few days after sending your resume?

I know that you’re supposed to follow up after an interview, but are you supposed to if a few days pass without a call to schedule an interview? I have been applying for jobs that I find online (mostly Craigslist) and am wondering if it looks good for bad to do this “extra” follow up. I don’t want to annoy the employer or anything.

I had a job interview lastweek Monday. I emailed a follow up letter after a week. I really want this job . Please tell me if this is a positive response or a negative response. Help !

Your application is still under referencing, seems that they are trying to reach your Front Office Manager since last week, unable to locate her.
We needed to move fast filling out the positions and we can’t wait any longer to verify your last employment.

Follow up letter but can’t let person they are replacing see it?

I just had an interview and want to send a follow up letter. The only problem is that the position is to replace a person who does not know that they are going to be replace. If I mail the letter to the office, the person that is being replace might see it. I don’t have an email address for them. How do I send a follow up letter?
It is a 2 person office. The manager who recently took over and an assistant manager. I interview for the assistant manager position.

I had an interview yesterday and was only given the interviewer’s first name. Since she is also the manager, I think it would be odd to call, ask her her last name, then deliver the follow up letter soon after. It was a very casual place. I dont know if this makes any difference. Should I just put “Dear (first name),” or should I call her and ask her what her last name was?

I was let go in my previous job. The management was expecting me to resign since I was not assigned work during the last few weeks of my employment. In the end, they terminated my job. Should I get in touch with the manager of this job? I have a good rapport with the co-workers of this company when I was working. On the other hand, I am in constant contact with my former supervisors.
